Love In A Time Of Hate

I know a sign has come of death when the sight of love enrages /

the sightless heart / the blood mouth

who could sleep now / at last /

all falling /

too much the same
too much different /

even if we dance

on a killing floor

even then

my love …

to the dance

~

I offer this in tribute to those victims of mass murder at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, June 12, 2016. This hate crime was directed at the LGBT community and friends who had gathered at the club.

And my thanks/apologies to Gabriel García Márquez for riffing on the title of his great novel, Love in the Time of Cholera.

  1. Thank you for the power in these words dear brother, and for touching my heart on a day when I needed to remember my sweet broken heart. ❤ ❤ ❤
