Unspoken

go down to where you last saw the boy
folding newspapers and see
the world you have is no different
than it was but now it is more clear
because now you see the faces
of the old men playing dominoes
in front of the grocery       where you always
told Mr. Garza the cigarettes were for your mother
who died one day       but kept breathing
sighs you didn’t know how to answer
and maybe wouldn’t have even if you had
